Our Work

Three strands. One shared ocean.

Mermaids Beyond Borders brings together education, storytelling and collaboration to help make ocean knowledge, connection and conservation more accessible. Accessibility and inclusion guide all three strands.

Stories & Voices

Ocean Echoes

Voices carried by the ocean.

Ocean Echoes shares people’s relationships with the ocean and makes space for stories, creativity and community knowledge across communities and generations.

Ocean Love Story

A series exploring what the ocean means to people and communities, and how those connections shape care, belonging and action.

Letters to the Ocean

Letters to the Ocean is a creative format within Ocean Love Story. Letters may be written, spoken, signed or expressed through art. Submissions can share a memory, feeling, hope or something the writer wants others to understand about their connection to the ocean.

A Tide We Make

A Tide We Make focuses on collective agency and the idea that communities can shape change together. MBB and communities work to develop partnerships and practical projects that support ocean conservation and participation.

Breathe Blue

A series exploring how diving and underwater experiences can become more accessible and welcoming, while raising awareness of the barriers that can prevent people from taking part.
